In October 2014, the Waitukubuli Culture and Tourism Initiative, hosted the Parade of Creole Fashion at the Dominican High Commission in London. Showcasing the traditional Dominican outfits, called the wob dwiyet, the fashion show was a unique opportunity for young Dominican’s in London, to embrace their roots and learn, about traditional Dominican culture.
Still buzzing from the success of our first event, we are already in the process of planning our next one, the details of which are soon to be revealed, but we can promise, it will be even bigger and better than the last and we are always looking for keen volunteers to get involved.
With our continued aim to serve, educate and entertain the Dominican diaspora within the UK, we hope you stick with us on this journey of exploration of our shared heritage and culture, throughout 2015 and beyond.
